USB Type-C provides a reversible connector ecosystem with scalable power and performance, but a product still needs a defined implementation. A speaker may use the receptacle only for power input, may accept one fixed input profile, or may support USB Power Delivery. The external appearance alone does not reveal which case applies.
The RFQ should separate physical, electrical, protocol, accessory, and user-experience requirements. This gives engineering teams a common vocabulary and lets quotation staff identify which request changes the power board, battery, firmware, cable, certification path, or packaging.

The USB Implementers Forum states that Type-C has specific language, compliance, and logo requirements. A buyer should not place a certified USB logo on packaging merely because the product uses a similar connector. Logo use and compliance claims need separate verification.
Charge time depends on more than the input printed near the port. Battery capacity, state of charge, charging algorithm, cell temperature, board efficiency, cable loss, adapter behavior, and whether the speaker is playing all affect the result. A quotation should therefore avoid an unsupported “fast charge” promise.
Ask the supplier for the supported input profiles and the condition used for any time estimate. State whether the measurement starts from automatic shutdown, a defined remaining state of charge, or another repeatable point. Record ambient conditions, product power state, lighting, playback level, and charger-cable combination.
If playback while charging is allowed, define what “allowed” means. Can the battery percentage still rise at a normal listening level? Does charging current reduce as internal temperature increases? Does full-output playback draw more power than the input can provide? These are product-behavior questions, not connector questions.
A sample should be tested with representative charger and cable categories expected in the destination market. The goal is not to try every accessory on sale. It is to cover the combinations most likely to reveal negotiation, cable, or user-behavior problems.

Include repeated plug insertion, gentle cable movement, power interruption, reconnect, and low-battery recovery. Check for audio noise, Bluetooth reset, LED flicker, microphone interruption, or unexpected restart when external power is connected or removed.

The connector must survive manufacturing, user insertion, cable leverage, and packaging pressure. Review its mounting method, board support, enclosure opening, alignment, solder-joint exposure, and access for repair. A strong connector mounted to a flexible board can still fail in use.
Port covers introduce another tradeoff. They may support an enclosure-protection goal, yet they also change insertion access and can trap moisture. If the cover must remain open during charging, the manual should state the applicable dry-use boundary. If the connector is recessed, test the intended cable overmold rather than assuming every plug will fit.
Thermal review should include the charger input area, battery, amplifier board, and enclosure surface while charging and playing. The buyer should define measurement points and acceptable criteria with engineering and compliance teams. Do not publish a temperature claim or safety conclusion from a casual touch test.
A cable and adapter can change unit cost, carton size, manual language, destination plug planning, warranty handling, and retail expectation. The quotation should show them as explicit line items. “USB cable included” is incomplete without connector types, length, current capability, color, marking, and packaging position.
If the adapter is excluded, the manual and product page need an input requirement that a normal customer can understand. If it is included, the buyer should confirm destination plug, labeling, model identity, documents, and whether the adapter is inside the same inspection scope as the speaker.

Battery runtime is measured during discharge; charge time describes a different operating path. Marketing teams sometimes combine them into a single “all-day, fast-charge” message without preserving the conditions behind either claim. Keep two evidence records and two approval lines.
For runtime, define playback level, content, lighting, sound mode, microphone use, temperature, and battery state. For charging, define source, cable, product state, starting point, end point, and thermal condition.
