What reliability tests do you perform before shipment?

A pilot run checks whether an approved speaker design can be assembled and tested consistently using the intended production process. It helps reveal issues that a single sample may miss, such as assembly difficulties, component variation, wiring problems, lighting differences or packaging damage. Before bulk production, the buyer and manufacturer should review the pilot results, agree on acceptance criteria and resolve outstanding issues. The required quantity and test scope depend on the project. A successful pilot reduces uncertainty, but it does not replace inspection and quality control during mass production.

A written specification gives the buyer and manufacturer a shared reference for quotation, development and sample approval. It should define the model or design, functions, acoustic targets, battery and charging requirements, dimensions, lighting, accessories, packaging and destination market. Test conditions and acceptance criteria matter as much as the headline numbers. Recording these requirements helps identify missing information and separates included features from optional changes. Keep the specification dated and versioned, and confirm revisions in writing so purchasing, engineering and quality teams work from the same approved requirements.

Wattage describes electrical power, not the complete listening result. A speaker's output also depends on driver sensitivity, cabinet design, frequency response and distortion. In a powered speaker, the amplifier, processing and protection settings also affect usable output. Power figures may describe different conditions, such as continuous operation or short peaks, so they are not automatically comparable. Ask how the rating was measured and review maximum sound pressure level, tonal balance and clarity at the intended listening distance. Compare samples at matched levels rather than judging performance from the largest wattage number.

Sensitivity helps show how much sound a loudspeaker produces from a specified electrical input. With comparable measurement conditions, a higher sensitivity means more sound pressure from the same input, which can affect amplifier requirements. Check the stated distance, frequency range, test environment and input reference: ratings at 1 W and at 2.83 V are not automatically equivalent for different impedances. Sensitivity does not describe bass extension, distortion or maximum output on its own. For powered Bluetooth speakers, also compare measured system output and sound quality, because amplifier gain and processing affect the result.
